Trump is forming an AI Force, but he calls the push to slow AI a hoax
He didn't say what the AI Force would do, and the next morning he was running a public vote on a new name for AI.
President Trump posted on Truth Social on September 19, 2026 that he is starting an AI Force, modeled on the Space Force he set up in his first term, and that an AI Czar is coming. The post went up at 1:12 pm Eastern.
Most of it is about why he thinks the pressure on the AI industry is manufactured. He puts "the decimation, or destruction, of AI" on a list of hoaxes that also holds Global Warming and both impeachments.

An AI Force, and a czar
Trump didn't say what the AI Force would do or where in the government it would sit. He pairs it with the courts he already has, writing that the administration will "also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System."

The czar gets no name in the post, only a timeline of "in the near future" and one qualification.
Only High I.Q. individuals need apply
What he promises the industry has nothing attached to it.
We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows!
He dates the campaign against AI to "an attack on our Data Centers", which he says collapsed once the communities hosting them saw the money. He puts AI at "possibly as much as 25% of our Country's GDP" and says the US is leading China and the rest of the world.
The vote on what to call AI
The post also accuses his opponents of renaming a cause to win it: he says they changed Global Warming to Climate Change because the new term covered more ground for doubt. The next morning he was running a rename of his own, which surprised me more than the AI Force did.
At 9:21 am Eastern on September 20, 2026, Trump posted the standings in a public vote on a replacement name for Artificial Intelligence, and cut one of the choices.
"Supreme Intelligence," probably because of its relationship to the Supreme Court, is losing badly to both "Superior" and "Extreme Intelligence."
Superior Intelligence and Extreme Intelligence are what's left, and he reopened the voting. Eight hours before that, at 1:14 am, he praised an interview that he said "concerned the AI Disaster Hoax."
We wrote up his earlier post on AI guardrails on September 15, 2026.
Across all three posts the czar has no name, no department and no date. The vote on what to call AI is down to two.
