What AI model does it use? 16 apps checked against their own docs
Copilot, Cursor, Siri, Alexa, Perplexity and the rest, each answered from the company's own documentation, blog or model picker, with the date we read it. Where a company doesn't say which model it runs, the page says that and sets out what is on the record.

How we checked
Every answer comes from something the company published itself: a help page, a changelog, the list of models in its own picker, a launch post, or a named executive saying it on the record. Third-party roundups didn't count, and a lot of what ranks for these questions turned out to be a year or more out of date, which is most of why these pages exist.
11 of the 16 don't fully say. That's an answer too, and those pages set out what the company has confirmed (a partnership, a provider list in its privacy terms, a model name in an old announcement) and what it hasn't.
Models behind these apps change with little notice, so each page carries the date a person last read its sources. A script also re-reads the key source pages about once a month and flags any change in the model names they print, so a stale answer gets caught and rewritten rather than left to drift.
