Meta starts an enterprise AI unit and hires MongoDB's CEO to run it

Zuckerberg hired MongoDB's CEO to sell Meta's models to companies, and Muse now plugs into QuickBooks and Shopify.

Mark Zuckerberg said on September 28, 2026 that Meta is starting a new business unit, Meta Enterprise Platform, to sell its AI to companies. He called it "the next major pillar of our business" in a statement on Meta's newsroom, and hired MongoDB's CEO to run it.

Chirantan "CJ" Desai joins as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer and reports straight to Zuckerberg. Meta then put out a second post, Muse for Small Business, which hooks its Muse agent up to the tools small firms already use.

What Meta says it's selling

Zuckerberg's pitch rests on what Meta already has. He lists models, agents, infrastructure and years of work with advertisers, and says the unit will start by bringing its "full technology stack" to businesses and developers.

Desai's resume is the enterprise kind. Zuckerberg's post says he led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow before MongoDB, including as President and COO.

The small-business half

The Muse for Small Business post is the concrete part. Muse, the personal agent Meta launched earlier this month in the US and Canada, now connects to tools like Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Slack and Canva, as well as a firm's Facebook Pages, Instagram professional analytics and Meta ad accounts.

Meta says nothing goes out without the owner's say-so.

Neither post prices the enterprise unit. The small-business post says Muse is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for more, and doesn't say what those cost.

Desai's statement says security and privacy are built into Meta's enterprise products from the outset, as with Muse. (Muse's own record here isn't spotless: on September 22 we reported an undocumented setting that lets local malware redirect its dictation.)

Neither post gives a date for when Desai starts or when enterprise customers can sign up. Muse for Small Business is available now, and Meta says more connectors are coming in the months ahead.
