Here's a job ad:

Customer Success Manager, B2B software. You'll own a book of around 60 mid-market accounts, run quarterly business reviews, spot churn risk early and work with sales on renewals and upsells. We want someone who's comfortable with data (Salesforce, Gainsight or similar) and can explain a product to people who don't care about the product.

Here are the bullets on my resume right now:

- Responsible for customer accounts
- Handled renewals and customer queries
- Used Salesforce daily
- Trained new team members
- Worked with sales team on various projects

And here's what they leave out:

I had about 45 accounts. Two big ones were about to leave in 2025 and I kept both, I think one was worth around $80k a year. I built a spreadsheet that flagged accounts that hadn't logged in for 30 days and the team still uses it.

Rewrite my bullets for this job. Rules:

- Every bullet starts with a verb and says what I did, then what changed because of it.
- Only use facts I've given you. If a bullet would be much stronger with a number I haven't given, write it with a marker like [how many?] or [what %?] instead of inventing one.
- Use the ad's words for a skill only where I've shown I have that skill. Don't paste their phrases onto things I didn't do.
- Put the bullets in the order this employer will care about, most relevant first.
- One line each where possible, two at most.

Then, separately:
1. Which of the ad's requirements none of my bullets covers. List them plainly so I can decide whether I have something to add.
2. Any of my old bullets that should be cut for this application, and why.
3. The one bullet a hiring manager for this job would read first, and whether it's strong enough to be first.

What you get: Your bullets rewritten for this ad with the gaps marked, plus the requirements you haven't shown yet.

Why it leaves markers instead of numbers

Ask a chatbot to improve a resume and it will happily write "increased retention by 35%" about a job it knows nothing about. You then have to defend that number in an interview. The markers turn every missing figure into a small job for you: go and find it, or cut the claim.

The list of uncovered requirements is the part people skip and shouldn't. It's quicker to learn now that the ad wants Gainsight than to find out when they ask.
