Why it asks what the story is about first

The first instruction is the one doing the work. A model asked to continue a long series will often get the emotional centre wrong, then build ten chapters on top of the mistake. Making it state the central tension in three lines gives you a cheap place to stop it and correct course.

Faithful, not imitative

This asks for a continuation in the spirit of the original rather than an imitation of the author's exact pages, and it says so in the prompt. That is the honest framing for fan work, and it also gets better results. Asked to imitate, a model produces a flat pastiche of surface tics. Asked to carry the story forward, it engages with what the story was for.

Series this works well on

Anything with a strong central question and an abrupt stop. Long hiatuses, series cut short by cancellation, and works whose author died leave the sharpest unanswered threads, which is exactly what this prompt is built to chase.
