Musk says Grok Bot will route tasks to Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney and Suno
Two weeks after calling Grok 4.7 its most powerful model for coding, SpaceXAI says its agent will route work to Anthropic.
Early on October 7, 2026, Elon Musk said Grok Bot, SpaceXAI's agent product, will use the best back-end model for any given task, and he named three that SpaceXAI doesn't make: Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney and Suno.
It came as a short "important note" on X, posted at 2:46 am Eastern. He gave no start date, no prices and no word on which tasks go where.
Important note regarding Grok @Bot : Going forward, @SpaceX will use the best back end model for any given task, including Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, Suno and other leading APIs. Whatever is most likely to give you the best outcome.
What Grok Bot is
SpaceXAI sells Grok Bot as AI teammates that do work on their own across the tools a team already uses. Its Team Bots launch on September 28 describes one Bot that coordinates engineering projects from Slack and runs Cursor cloud agents.

SpaceXAI has spent the year selling its own models. The company's news page introduced Grok 4.7 on September 21 in these words:
SpaceXAI's most powerful model for coding and knowledge work. Twice as fast, at half the price of comparable models.
So two weeks after calling its own model the strongest it has for that kind of work, the company says it'll hand some of the work to a rival's. That's the part I'd watch. Musk's post doesn't say whether Opus 5.5 gets coding, writing or something narrower.
Three outside names
Two of the three overlap with things SpaceXAI already makes. Its news page lists Imagine Image 2.0, for image generation and editing, and Imagine Video 1.5 (both from this summer).

When we checked on October 7, we found no reply from Anthropic, Midjourney or Suno, and no post about it on SpaceXAI's own news page.
What Musk didn't say
He didn't say whether Grok Bot users will see which model answered, or whether outside models count against the same usage. He also didn't say how the routing picks between them.
On September 14, Musk said Grok 4.8 finishes training this week. SpaceXAI's news page, as we saved it on October 7, doesn't list a Grok 4.8 yet.
