Turn these notes into flashcards.

Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts. The word equation is carbon dioxide plus water, in the presence of light, gives glucose plus oxygen. It is endothermic: energy is transferred from the environment. Rate is affected by light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature. Any one of these can be the limiting factor. Above about 40 degrees the enzymes denature and the rate falls.

Rules for the cards:
- One fact per card. If a back needs the word "and", it's two cards. Split it.
- The front is a question, not a topic heading. "What is the chloroplast for" beats "Chloroplasts".
- The back is under fifteen words. If it can't be, the front is asking too much.
- Skip anything that's background or context rather than something I'd be asked.
- No card whose answer is given away by its own question.

Split anything with an "and" in it

The thing that ruins homemade flashcards is cards that ask for four things at once. You half remember two of them, call it close enough, and never learn the other two. The "and" test is a crude rule that catches almost all of them.

Capping the back at fifteen words does the same job from the other side. A card you can't answer in your head isn't a flashcard, it's a page of notes with a question on top.
