Plan limits

NotebookLM limits per plan: 50 sources and 50 chats a day on free, 300 and 500 on Pro

Free NotebookLM gives you 100 notebooks of up to 50 sources each, 50 chats and 3 Audio Overviews a day. Google AI Pro raises that to 300 sources, 500 chats and 20 Audio Overviews, and Ultra goes higher.

Checked against the lab's own pages on October 2, 2026. Limits change often, so the date matters.

NotebookLM's help center (it's titled Gemini Notebook now, though the address still says notebooklm) has a usage table for every plan, and Google marks it "subject to change". These are the numbers it showed on October 2, 2026. The free version is called Standard, and the paid columns are the Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans.

Notebooks, sources and chats

Standard gets 100 notebooks, Plus 200, and Pro and both Ultra plans 500. Sources per notebook climb faster: 50 on Standard, 100 on Plus, 300 on Pro, then 500 on Ultra with 20 TB of storage and 600 on Ultra with 30 TB. Chats go 50, 200, 500, 2,500 and 5,000 a day.

Each source has its own ceiling, from a separate help page: up to 500,000 words, or 200MB for an uploaded file. Google Slides decks stop at 100 slides and Sheets at 100k tokens. A source you've switched off still counts toward the notebook's limit, so deleting it is what frees the slot. Sharing a notebook doesn't give anyone more sources either; the limit stays with the plan.

Audio Overviews, Video Overviews and the rest

Audio Overviews (the generated podcast-style discussion of your sources) run 3 a day on Standard, 6 on Plus, 20 on Pro, 100 on the 20 TB Ultra plan and 200 on the 30 TB one. Video Overviews use the same numbers. The cinematic kind is extra: 2 a day on Pro, 10 and 20 on the two Ultra plans, and none listed for Standard or Plus.

Reports, flashcards, quizzes and mind maps share one ladder, 10, 20, 100, 500 and 1,000 a day. Deep Research is the odd row. Standard gets 10 a month, while the paid plans get 3, 20, 75 and 200 a day. Data tables, infographics and slide decks have no numbers at all, only words running from "Limited" to "Highest limits".

When the limits reset

Google's wording is that daily quotas reset after 24 hours and monthly ones (the free Deep Research allowance) after 30 days. It doesn't mention midnight or any fixed time of day. Anything NotebookLM generates by itself when you first add sources, such as an automatic report or overview, doesn't count toward the limits.

Pro and Ultra also drop the visible watermark on generated images and video, except in India, South Korea and Vietnam, where Google applies it anyway. Other plan limits are listed together.
