The usage page couldn't fetch your limit windows, so it shows this card in place of the meters. It doesn't mean you've hit a limit.
What to do
Press Try again on the card, check status.claude.com, and if you use Claude Code, run /usage there to see the same session and weekly meters.
You open Settings, Usage on claude.ai to see how much you have left. The plan heading loads, but where the meters should be there's a card reading:

The page shows it when the request for your usage windows (the five-hour session and the weekly totals) comes back empty, and it puts a Try again button under it that simply asks again. It's a display failure. Nothing in that code path touches your allowance.
Why it fails
Anthropic doesn't document this card anywhere we could find, so what follows comes from one detailed account. On April 30, 2026 J.D. Hodges hit it on a Max (5x) plan after a status-page incident titled "claude.ai and API unavailable", which ran from 01:20 to 01:51 UTC. Refreshing didn't help, and the page was still showing the card about eleven hours after the incident was marked resolved.
That lag is what caught our eye (the incident itself lasted half an hour): the status page can say everything's fine while this one page still fails.
Getting the numbers another way
Anthropic's usage-limits article says claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Desktop share one limit, so any of them can show it. Hodges ran /usage in Claude Code and got the session and weekly meters straight away while the web page kept failing.
If you don't use Claude Code, press Try again every few minutes and look at status.claude.com for an open incident. If you really are at a limit, the chat itself will tell you with “You’ve hit your limit for Claude messages.” and a reset time.
Other wordings
The Claude Code panel inside the desktop app has a smaller usage popover, and its version of the failure is Couldn’t load usage limits. People also search for "Something went wrong loading usage data". We didn't find that sentence in the current claude.ai code or Anthropic's help pages, so it may be an older wording or come from somewhere else, and we can't vouch for it.
