Snap's new AI assistant runs on iPhone and Mac, but the anticipatory part is invite-only
Connect a Google account and it reads your mail and your calendar, then decides what you need to see before you think to ask.
On September 16, 2026, Snap introduced SPECS Intelligence, an AI service that runs across iPhone, Mac and its SPECS augmented reality glasses. You don't need the glasses for it.
It reads whichever apps you connect and builds up your goals, priorities, relationships and routines from them, then acts without being asked. What surprised me is the gap between the two ways in: the open preview does almost none of that.
- What
- SPECS Intelligence, an anticipatory AI service
- Announced
- September 16, 2026
- Runs on
- iPhone, Mac, and SPECS augmented reality (AR) glasses
- Open preview
- anyone 18+ in the U.S., the SPECS app for iOS, no invitation required
- Full early access
- the SPECS Mac app, by invitation only
- Training
- personal content from connected accounts will not be used to train or fine-tune AI models
What it does
The examples Snap gives are ordinary calendar problems (both of them are from the announcement). Before a meeting it could highlight "decisions to make, questions to ask, and things to remember". For a trip it could bring together flight, hotel and dinner plans while flagging a work deadline that falls during the visit.
Two other pieces come with it: Corners, which organize areas of your life such as work and family, and Goals, which help you set and track what you want to achieve. Put the glasses on and you say "Hey SPECS" to get the same material in your field of view.
SPECS Intelligence is designed to anticipate when help would be useful and surface relevant information and actions without waiting for a prompt.
What you can get today
Anyone 18 or over in the US can download the SPECS app for iOS and open the preview with no invitation. Connect a Google account and it reads Gmail and Google Calendar, then shows you where your time and your attention have been going.
Turns out that's all of it on the phone. Snap says the mobile preview leaves out the anticipatory suggestions and actions, which is the thing the announcement is named after. To get those you join a waitlist and wait for an email invitation to the Mac app.
What Snap says it does with your data
You choose what you connect. Snap personnel can't view or access the personal content you use with the service, Snap says, and content from connected accounts won't be used to train or fine-tune its models or to serve personalized ads (processing happens on device and in secure cloud infrastructure, with security protections wherever data is processed).
SPECS Intelligence is designed so Snap personnel cannot view or access the personal content you use with the service
The waitlist sits at specs.com/intelligence or inside the SPECS app. Snap says selected users will get an email invitation to sign in on Mac and connect their everyday apps as access rolls out.
