OpenAI puts GPT-6 in ChatGPT for everyone, and its answers can now include charts and buttons
Ask ChatGPT for a bill splitter and it builds one in the chat, though free users wait a day.
On October 7, 2026, OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT, along with a feature it calls Intelligent UI. Answers can now carry charts, maps, tappable buttons and forms, and ChatGPT will build a small working tool when you ask for one.
Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get it first, in the Chat tab. Free and Go users follow from October 8, and they get a different model underneath.

What the answers look like
OpenAI's post leans on everyday examples. The timing for a Sunday roast can sit beside the recipe, and the stops on a road trip can show up on a map. You can also ask for a tool outright, like a calculator for how savings could grow or a bill splitter for dinner with friends.

A chart won't show up every time. OpenAI says the model picks the format per question, and plain prose is still one of the options.
And when a simple text answer is the most useful response, ChatGPT can give you that.
To make it work, OpenAI built a library of components plus a compiler that draws the interface while the model is still writing, so the page fills in as you watch. It trained GPT-6 to judge when interactivity helps, and it says the model's design judgment still needs work.
It starts answering before it's done thinking
The second change is speed. GPT-6 can interleave thinking with answering: it builds a reply across several partial responses, so you aren't staring at a spinner while it reasons.
OpenAI gives two numbers, both from its own testing. On questions that need a web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant. On an internal set of everyday agentic tasks, GPT-6 Extra High starts answering as quickly as GPT-5.6 Medium and still scores better than GPT-5.6 Extra High. Nobody outside OpenAI has run either test yet, so I'd treat both as the company's claim for now.
OpenAI's own account announced the rollout on X at 2:05 pm Eastern.
GPT-6 and Intelligent UI, now rolling out in ChatGPT for everyone. Intelligent UI in ChatGPT delivers fast, interactive answers that make everyday questions more visual, complex topics easier to grasp, and interactive tools for your task available on the spot.
Safety, and what stays the same
OpenAI says GPT-6 resists attempts to get around its safety training better than GPT-5.6 Sol did, especially attacks that adapt over several turns. It also says the model is better at admitting when it lacks the information or tools to answer. The detail sits in the system card.
The update covers Chat only. The models powering Work and Codex aren't changing in this release, and Enterprise access depends on what a workplace admin has switched on.
Free and Go accounts start getting GPT-6 Luna on October 8, 2026.
