The family started with Claude Sonnet 4.5 on 2025-09-29 and the newest is Claude Opus 4.5 from 2025-11-24. Running one of these for a month costs anything from $2.56 on Claude Haiku 4.5 to $13 on Claude Opus 4.5, for identical work.

Which one should you be using?
Claude Opus 4.5 is the newest released model in the family, out on 2025-11-24. Newer is not automatically better for your job, but it is usually the one the lab is optimising, and on this table it is rarely the most expensive.
Why there are so many numbers
A point release is a new model, not a patch. Anthropic ships a new one under the same family name when the training or the tuning changes, and the old one usually keeps working at its old price until it's deprecated.
That's why two models in this table can hold the same amount of text and cost different amounts. You're picking a specific model, not a family, and the API name in each model's page is what actually goes in your code.
What each one is for
- Claude Opus 4.5The last Opus before the million-token window. Same money as Opus 5 for a fifth of the context.
- Claude Haiku 4.5The cheap end of the Claude line, and the only current one still on a 200K window rather than a million.
- Claude Sonnet 4.5Costs more than Sonnet 5 and gives you less. It's here because a lot of production code still pins to it.
- Claude Opus 4.1Retired on 5 August 2026. It survives on Bedrock and Google Cloud, and Anthropic dropped its context window off the docs when it went.
