Is DeepSeek V4 Flash free in Cline, and what do you get for $9.99?

The Cline extension is free and ClinePass costs $9.99 a month, which is how you get DeepSeek V4 Flash and thirteen other open-weight models. Cline describes the quota only as 2-5x standard API rate limits.

Checked against the lab's own pages on September 18, 2026. Limits change often, so the date matters.

Cline's pricing page says the open source extension is free for individual developers and that you pay for AI inference on a usage basis. The open-weight models people keep asking about, DeepSeek V4 Flash among them, come through ClinePass, which costs $9.99 a month.

What $9.99 includes

The lineup is open weight and aimed at coding agents: GLM 5.3 Flash, GLM 5.3, GLM 5.2, Kimi K3, Kimi K2.7 Code, Kimi K2.6, DeepSeek V4 Pro, DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, MiMo V2.5 Pro, MiMo V2.5, Qwen3.7-Max, Qwen3.7-Plus and Qwen3.8-Max.

You get them without separate provider accounts or API keys, which is most of what the page is selling. The only quota figure on it is a comparison.

Run longer sessions with quotas that offer 2-5x the usage compared to standard API rate limits.

What Cline doesn't publish

A number you can plan around. Neither page gives a token count, a request count, a reset window, or what happens when a quota runs out mid-session. "Standard API rate limits" isn't pinned to a particular provider either, so the 2-5x is a multiple of something the page leaves you to work out.

The $9.99 also carries two asterisks: it's the standard rate after a promotion period, and additional processing fees may apply.

The route that stays free

Cline itself. The extension is free for individual developers, you pay only for inference, and bring-your-own-key still works with providers including Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex, Groq, Cerebras and DeepSeek. Cline's own provider is pay-as-you-go at API rates and reaches a wider list of models than ClinePass does.

So the choice is a subscription with an unpublished quota against metered billing you can watch. If you cancel ClinePass in account settings before the next renewal, you keep access to the end of the current term.
