How much Claude Fable 5.1 usage do you get on the Pro and Max plans?
On Max plans and premium Team or Enterprise seats, Fable 5.1 is included and can take up to 50% of your weekly usage limits. On Pro plans and standard seats it runs on pay-as-you-go usage credits.
Checked against the lab's own pages on September 14, 2026. Limits change often, so the date matters.
It depends on your plan, and Anthropic's help center splits the answer two ways. On Max, Fable 5.1 is included and capped. On Pro it isn't included at all (you pay for it as you go).
I went in expecting a message count. There isn't one, which surprised me a bit.

Max plans, and premium Team and Enterprise seats
On these, Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 "are included as a standard part of your plan". You can spend "up to 50% of your weekly usage limits on Fable models at no extra cost". The help center is blunt about how fast that goes, too: Fable models "draw from your plan's regular weekly usage limits and use them faster than other Claude models".
Hitting that half doesn't lock you out. You can keep going on usage credits, or "switch to another Claude model to keep working within your plan's usage limits". There's a catch. The other models draw on the same pool, so "you can never use more than your weekly limit".
Pro plans, and standard Team and Enterprise seats
Here Fable sits outside the plan. "Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 aren't included in your plan's usage limits", and Fable models "run on pay-as-you-go usage credits from the start".
That's new this year. A promotion had let these seats spend part of a weekly subscription limit on Fable 5 at no extra cost, and it "ended on July 19, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM PT". It only ever covered Fable 5.
Eligible Pro and Team standard seats qualified for a one-time credit when Fable 5 moved to usage credits in July 2026.
When it resets, and what Anthropic doesn't publish
The limits are weekly. When you hit one, the usage limits page says "you'll need to wait for it to reset, upgrade your plan, or purchase usage credits". That's where the detail stops.
Neither page gives a reset hour. Neither gives a message or token count for any plan either, so the 50% is the only real number here. Granted, it's half of a limit nobody has put a figure on.
If Fable 5.1 isn't in your model picker
Check your version before you blame the plan (it's the first thing I'd rule out). Anthropic says Fable 5 needs Claude Code "version 2.1.170 or later" and Fable 5.1 needs "2.1.255 or later". Fable models in Claude Cowork want the latest Claude Desktop.
